BASKETBALL PROGRAM

Development Teams (7 to 14 Years Old)

The Development Program is a branch of the Competitive Program within the club structure, focusing on the preparation for players into higher levels of competitive play.

The Development Program is for all boys and girls (ages 9 to 13) looking for more than a recreational experience.  For many, this a transitional program from recreational basketball to competitive basketball.  Players have either participated in a recreational basketball program previously or decided to look for more advanced opportunities than what they currently have.

The program provides a positive learning experience for all players, concentrating on the growth of the individual within the team structure and emphasizes development of technical skills and tactical awareness.  It is our belief that teaching players is the priority for long term success and will foster more advanced understanding of the elements necessary to achieve that success.  We give players the "freedom to succeed" without the "fear of failure" by encouraging them to take ownership of their decisions in training and games, even at these young ages.  This method guarantees that players will develop with more confidence and self-esteem but more importantly, ensures fun and enjoyment for the game of basketball.

TRAVEL TEAMS

The Travel Program is for players typically, ages 11 to high school age searching to continue their basketball experience at the highest level possible.  Most of the players that compete in this program have either come through the Development Program or have joined our club through tryouts.  We compete on tournament circuit, and the tournaments are chosen based on the teams  ability.

*Each age group is evaluated to determine if they are travel team ready.

The travel basketball season can begin as early as January and runs through August, based on the age group.  The travel team will compete in tournaments throughout the state of Florida, as well as outside the state based on the team's level of play.

The program is guided by age appropriate teaching objectives.  Demands placed upon the players are progressive in nature and focus on the development of the four components of the game (technical, tactical, psychological and physical).  Training sessions will be creative, dynamic and enjoyable and will range in emphasis based on the needs of the individual and team.  This model allows all players to play at the highest level possible based on given skills and ability.

Tryouts

Tryouts for the Competitive Program will be held in either December or January, depending on the age group.  Teams are formed within every age group, based on the skill and ability level of the player.  The process used for team formations will be explained at the parent meeting during tryouts.

It is encouraged that all players interested in tryouts for the Competitive Program pre-register.  If you do not have the means necessary to do so, on-site registrations will also be accepted on the day of tryouts for that age group.
